Yesterday’s journey was not easy but invigorating!
Exactly yesterday (2nd May 2023), despite the pouring rain, we were taken aback to see the children arriving at the school campus, all eagerly looking forward to the much-anticipated picnic. The sight of their enthusiasm and excitement made us feel both proud and concerned. We knew that they had been looking forward to this outing for weeks and didn’t want to disappoint them.
However, we received information from the trip destination that due to the heavy rains, there had been a landslide, and it was no longer safe to proceed with the picnic. We immediately realized the gravity of the situation and made the difficult decision to postpone the trip. The safety and well-being of our students are of the utmost importance, and we simply cannot risk their lives or well-being for the sake of the trip.
We understand that the news of postponement may not be well-received by the students, but we have no other option. Our primary concern is their safety, and we cannot compromise on that. We consulted the weather forecast, and it indicates that the rain is expected to subside soon. Therefore, we decided to change our destination where it is safe to travel and enjoy the outdoors.
We know that the children may be disappointed, and we empathize with them. However, we believe that it’s important to teach them the value of safety and responsibility. We did our best to communicate this decision to them and assure them that we were working on rescheduling the trip as easy as possible.
In conclusion, the safety and well-being of our students must come first, and we cannot proceed with the picnic in such unsafe conditions. We hope students understood and cooperated with us yesterday as we worked towards a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
K.R. Pavitra Travels cab was an experience like no other; it was like riding on a heavenly chariot. The smooth and safe ride provided by the driver, Ramesh, was the icing on the cake.
To ensure that our journey was not disrupted by hunger pangs, we made sure to stop at various intervals for meals and snacks. We had a total of nine stops, which included before breakfast, breakfast, mid-day snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, evening snacks, dinner, and bedtime snacks. These stops were carefully planned to ensure that everyone on the trip, especially the kids, was well-fed and energized.
One of the most memorable meals was lunch, which was arranged by Mr. Prabhu, the owner of Murthy Mess located at Jamanamarathur. The menu featured a variety of non-vegetarian dishes, cooked to perfection and served with warmth and hospitality. The only caveat was that some of the dishes were a little spicier than what the kids were used to. Nonetheless, it was a rare culinary experience that left us all satiated and satisfied.
The highlight of the trip was the Bhiman waterfall, which felt like it was created just for our school group. The waterfall was deserted, and we had the entire place to ourselves. The children and accompanying teachers had a blast bathing in the refreshing waters of the waterfall. It was a new experience for all of us, and we left only when we knew it was time to return home.
The natural beauty that we witnessed on this trip was breathtaking and awe-inspiring. From the lush greenery to the majestic mountains, every moment was a visual treat. But what made this trip truly unforgettable was the opportunity to interact with the locals. We were able to learn about their way of life, their customs, and their traditions. Our children were fascinated by the stories that were shared with them and it opened their eyes to a different way of living.
During our visit to “Melpattu” a hamlet located at the highest altitude of Jawadhu Hill, we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Perumal, the head of the village, and his son Sundar, who works as a teacher in a government school. After a warm introduction, we engaged in a conversation about their lifestyle and culture.
Mr. Perumal, a respected figure in the village, shared his insights on the traditional agricultural practices and the importance of community involvement in village development. He spoke about the challenges faced by the farmers in the area due to the changing climate and how the village is adapting to the changing times.
Sundar, a passionate teacher, shared his experiences of working with students from diverse backgrounds. He spoke about the challenges of teaching in a government school with limited resources and how he tries to make the best use of available technology to provide quality education to his students. He also highlighted the importance of education in empowering the younger generation to create a better future for themselves and the community.
We also got to learn about the unique cultural practices and festivals celebrated in Melpattu village. Mr. Perumal and Sundar shared their experiences of participating in these festivals and how they bring the community together.
Overall, it was an insightful conversation, and we left with a better understanding of the rich culture and community spirit of Melpattu village, thanks to the valuable contributions of Mr. Perumal and Sundar.
Experiencing the natural beauty of a place that is situated at an altitude of 3500 feet above sea level, 270 kilometers away from where you live, can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And when you get to know the people who call that place their home, it can be an even more enriching experience. What’s even better is that all of this can be achieved at a cost of only 2000 rupees, making it an affordable adventure.
Reflecting on the journey we have taken in this school, I feel a sense of relief that I have given the best to my children. I believe that exposing them to different cultures and experiences has broadened their horizons and made them more well-rounded individuals. And this particular trip to the 3500-feet-above-sea-level location has been no exception.
It now costs thousands a day to go to the nearest cinema and watch a movie. But spending a mere 2000 rupees on such a trip where you can get a thousand times more direct experience than the experience you get there will not be a big loss.
As a parent, I believe that it is important to provide our children with experiences that will help them grow and develop into well-rounded individuals. This trip has been one such experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared it with my children.
Overall, the trip was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the comfortable ride, delicious food, and breathtaking scenery. It was a perfect combination of fun and relaxation, and we look forward to more such trips in the future.

நேற்றைய பயணம் எளிதானது அல்ல, ஆனால் உற்சாகமூட்டுவதாக இருந்தது
சரியாக நேற்று (மே 2, 2023), கொட்டும் மழையையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், பள்ளி வளாகத்திற்கு வந்த குழந்தைகளைப் பார்த்து நாங்கள் திகைத்துப் போனோம், அனைவரும் மிகவும் எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்ட சுற்றுலாவை ஆவலுடன் எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம். அவர்களின் உற்சாகத்தையும் உற்சாகத்தையும் கண்டு எங்களுக்கு பெருமையும் கவலையும் ஏற்பட்டது. அவர்கள் பல வாரங்களாக இந்தப் பயணத்தை எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள், அவர்களை ஏமாற்ற விரும்பவில்லை என்பது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்.

ஜவ்வாது மலையின் மிக உயரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள “மேல்பட்டு” என்ற குக்கிராமத்திற்கு நாங்கள் சென்றிருந்தபோது, அந்த ஊர் தலைவர் திரு.பெருமாள் மற்றும் அரசுப் பள்ளியில் ஆசிரியராகப் பணிபுரியும் அவரது மகன் சுந்தர் ஆகியோரை சந்தித்து மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தோம். ஒரு அன்பான அறிமுகத்திற்குப் பிறகு, அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை முறை மற்றும் கலாச்சாரம் பற்றிய உரையாடலில் ஈடுபட்டோம்.

ஒரு பெற்றோராக, நம் குழந்தைகளுக்கு அவர்கள் வளரவும், நன்கு வளர்ந்த நபர்களாக வளரவும் உதவும் அனுபவங்களை வழங்குவது முக்கியம் என்று நான் நம்புகிறேன். இந்தப் பயணம் அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு அனுபவமாக இருந்தது, அதை என் குழந்தைகளுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டதற்கு நான் நன்றியுள்ளவனாக இருக்கிறேன்.
